Luxor - is it changing its theme?

I%26#39;ve heard that the Luxor is shedding it%26#39;s Egyptian theme in a bid to become more luxurious. Is this true, and if so, does anyone know what ';theme'; they are going for?

We only got to visit it briefly on our last trip and i was looking forward to re-visiting again in Septemeber but it looks like i might not get the chance to see it in all its Egyptian glory :)

Thanks

Luxor - is it changing its theme?

Luxor is gradually removing its theme as much as it can. Not that easy admittedly when the building is the shape of a pyramid!

The whole theming concept is considered way too 90s Vegas for today%26#39;s marketing men. Family friendly is out now - Luxor is now being pushed as a twentysomethings party hangout and its interior is now practically empty of any of the old Egyptian stuff.

Luxor - is it changing its theme?

I am curious also since I will be staying at the Luxor next week. From what I can tell, it looks like Reception, Casino and Pool still have the Egyptian theme. Restaurants seem to have gone ';modern';

Tis true. They have left Egypt behind and are now trying to cater to the ';younger and hipper'; crowd. They have installed a couple of swanky clubs. More and more hotels are dropping their ';theme';.

That%26#39;s such a shame.

I love the themes .... where else can you go on holiday and visit Egypt (well, not anymore!), Paris, Polynesia, Venice, Ancient Rome and more all in a day!!!! :)

Looks like i%26#39;ve missed my chance - wonder what they did with all the Egyptian themed decor?

Thanks for your replies.

Well, it is still in the shape of a pyramid. I don%26#39;t know what they can possibly do about that!

That%26#39;s a shame. A crowd of us went to Vegas for a friends wedding in - I think - 2002, it was fun walking down the strip and stopping off at the casino%26#39;s as they were all so different. We were all in our mid twenties and out favourite was probably NYNY. Good vibe.

Hopefully in a few years some bright spark will think ';Why don%26#39;t we do theme hotels anymore'; and then it%26#39;ll all kick off again.

I%26#39;d like to see an outer space theme. A zero gravity bar could be possible in twenty years. Might not be very practical though, especially if you were to overindulge on the vino and have to be sick uuurrhgh

It is true that they are shedding the egyptian look. I was unpleasantly surprised last Sept when I when I visited the Hotel/Casino. As a lover of egypt and Having been married there 5 years ago to get an egyptian theme in my wedding, I was appalled to see it gone. I was also looking to replace a pair of earrings that my husband had bought me there. The woman working in one of the shops said they are getting rid of everything with the theme connected to it.

I think the themes made each hotel unique. How sad to try and make these all generic, and blah.

I also love Egypt. Actually have travelled there 4 times! This would be my second stay at the Luxor and now I%26#39;m a tad upset. So even the gift shops are giving up the theme? It was a lot of fund visiting all the themed hotels like travelling. I can%26#39;t imagine Paris, Venetian changing their themes. Hasn%26#39;t Aladdin changed also, now Planet Hollywood? Yes, you can tell they are trying to get the younger crowd......

You could actually visit the ';real'; Venice, Paris,NYC, etc. if you must have a theme. lol I think the themes were fun for the first few visits. After that- I don%26#39;t even ';see'; them.
