Thanks

Nationwide visa card - wheres the nearest ATM to MGM ?

Hello mate,

We have a Nationwide credit card and they have in the last week or so changed their policy and now charge for foreign transactions. Not sure if its the same for Flex account but thought I%26#39;d let you know. Also, the ATM%26#39;s will charge you a lot regardless of card, a bit like our %26#39;link%26#39; machines over here.

There are ATM%26#39;s everywhere, including inside MGM.

As previously posted I would check with Nationwide as I also read that free transactions were comming to an end. If this is true, withdrawing money on a card ';can'; get expensive if you use it several times a day.

Even with a Nationwide Flexaccount card you won%26#39;t find an ATM in Vegas that doesn%26#39;t charge anything to withdraw cash. The trick is to find the least expensive ones.

In general avoid the casinos own ATMs - some of them can be quite extortionate, charging both a high fixed fee for withdrawing money plus a percentage of the amount you withdraw!

Having said that I believe there%26#39;s one in Casino Royale which only charges a dollar or two per withdrawal, which is the best you%26#39;re gonna get.

Others that only charge a dollar or two are the one inside the CVS pharmacy (next to the Monte Carlo) and the Bank of America ATM in the Forum shops (Caesars Palace).

I agree, there%26#39;s no way to totally avoide charges, only minimise them as outlines above.

MGM Side of LV Blvd walk north there is a Walgreens and that vicinity there is also a 7-11. Both are regular atm%26#39;s that will have the norm surcharge of $2-2.50. The little walking is worth it in the long run..just go and checkout the fee table on the atm/bill breaker machines in the Casino..YIPES!!

Thanks for all the info.

Seems Nationwide are indeed going to start charging. Damn shame. Oh well, atleast you get a safe in your hotel room.

I suppose on thinking, would be better then I rekon to use my Nationwide credit card, take the hit on the 1% visa charge but still get the visa rate which is better than than the currency converter websites.

Looks like I%26#39;ll use that for food and take my gambling money in cash.

Scott

Nationwide are still only passing on Merchant%26#39;s charges and should still give the best deal on debit/credit cards abroad.

We use our NW credit card for purchases and debit card for cash withdrawals. ATM%26#39;s in the Miracle Mile shops at PH are around $3 as are most banks.

We draw the maximum each time which minimises the charge.

Hi Scott,

Wouldn%26#39;t advise taking a load of cash either - you%26#39;ll get the same rate here when you change to Dollar traveller cheques and using cash isn%26#39;t worth the risk. They are then insured and you%26#39;ll have no issue whatsoever changing them at any casino cage. Just make sure your passport is always handy.
